In 2008 Kevin became a professional TATTOO ARTIST and continues to push his limits by approaching each new project as a privilege and an opportunity for artistic expression.
Kevin L. Lizárraga, 31, is a Los Angeles born artist and writer who resides with his wife in Southern California. His art ranges from tattoos, photo realistic, abstract, illustrative, large-scale commissioned art, and graphic design.
Over the years, Kevin has produced several thousand sketches, drawings, and paintings that demonstrate his capacity and eagerness to grow at every turn in his life. After a short apprenticeship in March 2008 with local artist, Bonks, he started to practice the art of tattooing. After a few months of training he obtained his OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Certification, and then tattooed himself, a few friends and willing family members, and the rest is history.
Kevin pays close attention to the symbolic world that surrounds him. From the leaves on a tree, to the feathers by the sea, Kevin is often distract by the aesthetic beauty in all things. His paintings and tattoos are conceptual, emotional, and, in the series of paintings King and the Myth of 9/11, dangerously controversial.
Kevin earned a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). While earning his bachelor’s degree Kevin minored in Art and continues to draw and tattoo as much as possible. As a life long artist and writer, he is truly dedicated to being a creative force in the universe. For Kevin, art is a passion ingrained in his family – his mother and siblings are all exceptionally talented artists.
Kevin is inspired by a range of artists including DaVinci, Kandinski, Picasso, Dali, Mark Andrew Allen, Ike Taiga, Don Ed Hardy, Tom Renshaw, Bugs, Guy Aitchison, Kat Von D, Mike DeVries, Dismas and GrissyG Lizarraga, his younger brother who is also a tattoo artist Darwin Lizarraga, and his talented sister Amie Lizarraga.
Kevin is also a part time professor and marketing professional at CSUN.
